Well that was pretty easy! And way cheaper than $7 a bottle.

So I went to the grocery store the other day because I ran out of some vanilla syrup. I was making American Soda’s, which is basically my version of cheap Italian Sodas. They are super delicious and a real treat, but vanilla syrup is a must have ingredient to make these things. I quickly located the Torani syrup just to find that this little bottle cost $7 dollars!!!!??? And that was for the small bottle…

I mean, it had been a while since I had bought vanilla syrup, but my gosh, did I forget how expensive it really was? Then, my homemade brain took over and I thought, “Can’t I just make this? Isn’t it just sugar, water, and extract?” I looked at the ingredients list and sure enough, the first three ingredients were sugar, water and vanilla extract. There were a few other added ingredients like sodium benzoate, postassium sorbate and citric acid. Perfect! I didn’t need those ingredients to make my Torani Copy Cat Syrup Recipe anyway. Even better, homemade Torani syrup was only going to cost me about a quarter to make myself.

I went home and came up with this little homemade Torani syrup recipe. It’s so easy and fast! I think it tastes even a little bit better than the store bought stuff, but I might be a little biased. The best part is, you can make ANY flavor you want!

The only word of caution I have when making this Torani Syrup Copy Cat Recipe, is you do have to be careful of crystallization when the syrup cools. It usually occurs if you don’t fully dissolve your sugar when cooking. Be sure that all of your sugar has dissolved fully before removing it from the stove. Be careful though! Cooking it too long and it could burn.

    Storage

Store at room temperature preferably in a glass jar with a lid. It can last for several months! Be sure the mixture has cooled for at least 30 minutes before pouring it into a glass jar to prevent cracking the glass. If you’re using plastic to store the homemade Torani syrup, then wait until the mixture has fully cooled before pouring it into the container.

Enjoy this Torani Syrup Copy Cat Recipe with steamed milk, Pero, American or Italian soda’s, on shaved ice, with coffee, or whatever you’re doing with it!
