The nutritional struggle is real

This smoothie recipe, along with my other “The Daily” smoothie recipes are meant to be fillers to your diet. They make meeting your nutritional needs just a little bit more simple. By drinking one smoothie you are well on your way to getting in most of your vitamins and minerals without having to eat a pound of veggies. Not only that but this smoothie is inexpensive and delicious. It’s an easy way not only for me to get my vitamins in, but for my kids and husband too. Often times my husband will make this smoothie for a quick yet nutritional breakfast that he takes with him to work. My kids and I will eat it with our breakfast or as a snack. It’s no secret that it’s better to eat your vitamins than take supplements, but if you feel like you still need to supplement with a daily vitamin you can.

Nutritional yeast is the main reason why this smoothie is so nutritious. It’s boasts of nearly all the vitamin content seen in the nutritional profile, as well as containing a large portion of phosphorus, selenium, folate and zinc. For being only 1 TBS of nutritional yeast it also carries 8% of your daily fiber needs.  This amazing product is a must have in any kitchen no matter what the dietary lifestyle. I chose to add it to smoothies because I wanted a simple way

to consume it everyday. A lot of vegans substitute it for cheese and sprinkle it on popcorn or pour it in cheese mimicking sauces like Alfredo sauce or queso dip. I personally don’t love the flavor on it’s own but I’ve also never tried them in sauces. However, I know I won’t eat cheese sauce every day to get the benefit in from nutritional yeast so I opt for the smoothie. If your smoothie is too bitter or odd tasting then add a bit more banana to it to sweeten it up. That will dull the flavor coming from the yeast if it’s too prominent.
